Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy and collect only what we need. This policy explains what we collect, where it is kept, how we use it, and your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What data we collect
When you order, we collect your name, email, phone number and, for physical products, your delivery address. When you download a free guide, join a waitlist, sign up for the newsletter, volunteer, enquire about partnering or use the contact form, we collect the details you type into that form. We do not create user accounts or store passwords. If you chat with Suryaputra, our support assistant, your messages stay in your browser for that visit; if you choose to continue on WhatsApp, the summary you send goes to us through WhatsApp.
How we use your data
We use your data to confirm and deliver orders, email paid guides, reply to your questions, send the newsletter (only if you opted in) and improve the website. Free guides carry your name as a personal watermark. We do not sell or rent your data.
Data sharing
Form entries are stored in a private Google Sheet owned by Son of Surya (Google acts as our storage provider). We share delivery details only with the courier or supplier who ships your order. Payments are made directly through your own UPI app; we never see or store your card or bank details. The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages.
Cookies
We use your browser's local storage to keep your cart, your chat with Suryaputra and your cookie choice. These are needed for the site to work. We do not run advertising trackers. If we add analytics, it will be privacy-friendly and only with your consent.
Data retention
We retain order data for 7 years as required by Indian tax law. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are retained for 2 years. You may request deletion of your data at any time (subject to legal retention requirements).
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, email hello@sonofsurya.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Security
We keep the Google Sheet private, use two-step sign-in on our accounts and limit who can see your data. No internet transmission is completely secure, so please email us straight away if you think something is wrong.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We will notify newsletter subscribers of significant changes.
