Son of Surya

Our mission

A village should not have to move to the city to live well.

Son of Surya starts with solar on India’s west coast and grows into a full rural ecosystem: energy, water, farm income, skills and community, built with the people who live there.

The ecosystem

One name, five arms

Solar is the door in. Each arm stands on the same trust and the same partners, so what we earn in one carries to the next.

Goal

Rural Konkan and Goa meet every basic need as well as a city, through clean and local means

Why the coast first

Konkan and Goa: sun, salt and a gap to close

The west coast has strong sun for most of the year, but salt air, heavy monsoons and palm shade make ordinary solar fail early. Few installers design for it, and village families pay the price in rusted frames and dead inverters.

It is also where young people leave villages for Mumbai and Goa’s towns because work at home is thin. Clean energy, water and farm businesses can change that, if they are built and run locally.

We start here, prove the model honestly, then take it to other coastal and rural regions.

How we work

Step by step, in the open

  1. 1Now

    Learn and trust

Free guides, calculators and the Passport help families make good solar decisions today.

  2. 2Now

    Earn to fund the work

In-depth guides, gadgets and design services pay for the next steps, without big loans.

  3. 3Mid-2027

    First village pilots

Small, partner-funded projects in Konkan and Goa, filmed and reported start to end.

  4. 42028

    Local teams, more arms

Trained local technicians, farm ventures and water projects, then a second district.

Our founder, Ninad, is completing a Master’s in Renewable Energy Systems in Germany until mid-2027. Until then the work is digital; field projects begin when he is back on the ground.

What we hold ourselves to

Basic needs first

Light, water, income and skills before anything fancy. A village should not need to move to a city to live well.

Local people do the work

Every project trains and pays people from the village. Outsiders teach, then step back.

Honest numbers, published

Conservative estimates, open assumptions, and an impact log that shows what failed as well as what worked.

Partners, not donors

We ask companies, NGOs and well-off families for their time and skills as much as their money.
