Son of Surya is an India-first solar and renewable-energy venture founded by Ninad Suryakant Desai — built step by step, beginning with solar education, digital tools, and project guidance.
The Founder
Ninad Suryakant Desai holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and has spent the last six years immersed in solar energy — from the ground up, in every sense of the phrase. His journey began not in a classroom, but on the field: before he had a degree to his name, he stepped forward as a volunteer with a for-profit solar enterprise, learning the industry from the inside out. That early exposure lit a fire that has never gone out.
After graduating, Ninad moved into professional roles as a Solar Design Engineer and then as a Site Engineer — designing systems, solving real installation challenges, and understanding exactly where the industry falls short for the people it should be serving most. Those years on the ground gave him something no textbook can: a deep, hands-on understanding of what solar actually looks like in Indian conditions — the dust, the heat, the monsoons, the voltage fluctuations, the bureaucratic hurdles, and the extraordinary potential sitting untapped in every village and farm across the country.
He is now pursuing a Master's degree in Renewable Energy Systems in Germany — not to step away from India, but to return sharper, better equipped, and more determined than ever. Son of Surya was born from this journey: a venture built by someone who has volunteered, designed, installed, studied, and refused to stop asking why solar is still out of reach for the people who need it most.
His mission is clear: make solar genuinely accessible — not just affordable in theory, but understandable, navigable, and actionable for farmers, rural homeowners, and small businesses across India. Son of Surya is being built step by step — starting with education, digital tools, and project guidance — and growing steadily toward a full-service, engineered, designed, and commissioned solar company.
India is the starting point. The long-term ambition is to build a solar and renewable-energy brand that begins here and eventually reaches the world. The sun does not discriminate — and neither should access to the energy it provides.
Why Son of Surya Exists
India has more sunlight than almost anywhere on earth. But the people who stand to benefit most from solar — farmers, rural families, and communities — are also the ones least served by the industry.
Most solar content is written for engineers or investors. The farmer who wants to run a water pump, the homeowner in a tier-3 town who wants to cut her electricity bill — they get jargon, not answers.
Son of Surya exists to change that. We write practical guides in plain language, build tools that work for Indian conditions, and share everything we learn along the way.
